Not sure about the category, so uhm... yeah...
An assignment for my Artistic Illust workshop class.
We had to pick a theme and sketch lots of pics on that theme. I picked "girls and dolls". We had to deliver 3 final illustrations on that theme, and this is Illust #3. Illusts #2 and #1 were done in watercolors, and copic markers+colored pencils, respectively, and are currently being evaluated by my teacher. I'll scan them once I have them back, probably next week.
I decided to use this piece as an experiment. I'm used to paint with a solid lineart and soft or cell-shading anime style when painting digitally, but this time, since my other illusts were kind of lineart-less, I decided to do the same here and aim for a painter-ish feel or something like that. I worked the opposite of what I always do: I started with the darkest colors and then used the lighter ones on top, instead of using the lighter ones first and then shading. I'm quite pleased with the result ^___^ It always can be better, thou. I might experiment with this style more in the future, when I have time again from my assignments.
Tools: mechanical pencil for initial base sketch, Photoshop CS, graphic tablet.
